Jamaican Musher Newton Marshall

Today was the ceremonial start of the Iditarod in Anchorage. This year Jamaican musher Newton Marshall is back. I always make it a point to seek him out, he has such a great personality and always has a smile. It just happened to be his birthday too. Here are a couple photos.

2013 Fur Rondy Dog Races

Today was the 2013 Fur Rondy World Championship Dog Sled Races. It is always a challenge to photograph these speedy dogs. This is a 25 mile race on the Anchorage trail system.
I did set up in a different location this year. I almost got taken out by a sled hook after a crash last year. Here is a video of the crash last year: http://vimeo.com/akphotograph/furrondy
