Strobist Stuff

July 25th, 2009 Mike Criss No comments

I decided to sell my 40D and wanted to take some decent photos of it so I built a studio box.

I cut holes in three sides and taped tracing paper over the holes, one on each side and one on the top

I set up three flashes and put a poster board under the camera.

My setup

This is the resulting shot after playing around with settings. You can see the reflector I used in the lens.

Canon 40D

Once I got the settings right, it was as simple as swapping the objects.

Canon 2X II

Peach

I think I will play around with this box some more, thanks to strobist for the idea.

HDR Photo of the Day

July 20th, 2009 Mike Criss No comments

Photo of the day is a hand held HDR taken on our weekly long dog hike. I love bringing either my 100-400mm or my 70-200mm IS f2.8. Carrying these lens around 6 dogs is hard enough so I don’t generally bring my tripod. The sun was up high and I knew I would be disappointed with one exposure. You can see our trail there in the distance. The dogs had a blast!
