2013 Fur Rondy Dog Races

Today was the 2013 Fur Rondy World Championship Dog Sled Races. It is always a challenge to photograph these speedy dogs. This is a 25 mile race on the Anchorage trail system.
I did set up in a different location this year. I almost got taken out by a sled hook after a crash last year. Here is a video of the crash last year: http://vimeo.com/akphotograph/furrondy

Fur Rondy Crash

I have had some close calls while photographing dog races before, but none as close as this. I was concentrating on the lead dogs and did not realize there was a crash until I went to photograph the musher and saw an empty sled.
I had my Canon 5D mark II on a tripod recording video and I was taking stills with my Canon 7D.
