Dogs of the Iditarod

Spent the weekend shooting the Iditarod. Saturday’s conditions were not ideal, terrible light and snowing. Sunday’s conditions were perfect in Willow. The restart begins at 2pm so the sun is starting to get low in the sky making great light conditions. Here are a few photos I took at the 2012 Iditarod Restart.

2012 Iditarod Ceremonial Start

I had a press pass this year which allowed me to get into the Iditarod pit area. I wanted to meet up with some mushers I know through my photography and of course take some photos.

Meg and I ran to our car just as the race was starting to get on the trail system. I was able to get to a secluded spot (hard to find these days) and set up just as the first musher came around the corner.
